Shake Hands with the Devil
The documentary based on Romeo Dallaire's memoir on his experience as an often helpless UN Peacekeeping General during the Rwandan genocide is playing at SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival) this year, on May 23rd at 7:00 PM (they shouldn't schedule important human rights films at the same time as important human rights classes!) and Wednesday, May 25th at 2:00 PM. I doubt many of you can make these times, but I do expect a theatrical release at some point this summer.

David, thanks for those links.
I really hope there will be a theatrical release, I'd love to see this. I have a lot of admiration for General Dallaire.
I'm taking the Political Violence class with professor May and we watched "Ghosts of Rwanda" for class. It was a powerful documentary and the first time I was exposed to the Rwandan Genocide in any depth. It was compelling to say the least...such a horrible tragedy. I have yet to see Hotel Rwanda. I will be renting it as soon as finals are over.
I'll be driving in to see the film on Wednesday, around 12:30 for the 2pm showing. I expect to be back in town around 4 (it's only 50 minutes long) for a 4:15 class. If anyone wants a ride, let me know. I'll be returning to the campus after the film.

Glad you can go! Also good news--weekday daytime SIFF films are only $5 (most SIFF films are 10).
